Obituary for Phyllis Jean Hash

Phyllis Jean Grimes Nugent Hash of Elizabethtown lost her battle with cancer and was peacefully called home August 4, 2018 at her home surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born August, 7, 1953 in Hodgenville, Kentucky. She fought long and hard and stayed strong through the end. Mrs. Hash is preceded in death by her parents, Lillian Emma Clark Grimes and Irvin Henry Grimes; maternal grandparents, Lillie Mae and Hugh Clark; paternal grandparents Joseph Henry and Bertha Ree Grimes; and two grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Mel Hash; a son, Alan and Trista Nugent, Jr of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Mattie and David Greer of Brandenburg; six grandchildren Alexandria, Tristan, Emma, Presleigh, Boone and soon-to-be Baby Greer; five sisters, Dolores and Perry (Little Man) Rankin, Lora Bowman and Tammy Daniels all of Elizabethtown, Bonnie Grimes, and Michelle and Joe Barnes all of Vine Grove; an aunt, Louise Grimes, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends and loved ones.
Phyllis was a devoted wife, loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt and so much more. She is retired from Collis in Elizabethtown, and has worked as a housekeeper and caregiver. She has an Associates of Science degree from the Elizabethtown Community College. Phyllis loved horse-back riding, motorcycle riding, camping, nature and walking by the stream, the beach and spending time with her family and friends. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Lebanon Junction Church of God of Prophecy. She always thought of others first and gave of herself continuously throughout her life.
Funeral services will be 1PM Tuesday at Dixon-Atwood & Trowbridge Funeral Home with Pastor Tina Lord officiating. Burial will follow in Valley Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8PM Monday and after 9AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
